Zero Food Waste Volunteers with Art is a strategic partnership project supported by the Erasmus+ KA220 programme, aiming to raise awareness about food waste, climate change, and sustainable living among young people, educators, and local communities. By combining environmental education with artistic expression, the
project encourages creativity and active citizenship across Europe. The initiative brings together 8 partner institutions from 7 countries, including schools, municipalities, and NGOs, all committed to promoting responsible food consumption and ecological awareness.

Through international training events, workshops, and collaborative activities, the project empowers participants to explore food waste prevention methods, climate action strategies, and digital tools. The project also includes the creation of a multilingual e-learning module enriched with poetry, animation, and music, making the learning process both engaging and impactful. By reaching students, teachers, families, and the wider public, Zero Food Waste Volunteers with Art aims to build a more informed and environmentally conscious generation.

    • The Adventure of Two Friends Who Decided to Change the World!
      - story behind our mascots Zio and Ziva.

Once upon a time, in two different corners of Europe, two young dreamers were growing up — Ziva, a curious girl from Slovenia, and Zio, a cheerful boy from Italy.

They didn’t know each other yet, but they both shared one strange habit: whenever they saw food wasted — especially bread — they felt a little sad inside. They didn’t know why, but something deep in their hearts told them that every crumb counts.

    • This lesson guides you through the process of creating a song, based on the real experience of the project participants. You will explore each stage step by step—from the first ideas and rehearsals, through creative exercises and collaboration, to the final recording.

Together, we will follow this journey, learn how a song is developed, and try to create our own piece. The lesson encourages teamwork, creativity, and expression, showing that everyone can take part in making music.

    • Hey there, little Earth heroes! 💚
Meet Ziva, bright like sunshine, full of kindness and care for every flower and tree.
And meet Zio, curious like the wind, always exploring and finding new ways to help our planet!

🎶 Together they sing “The Song of Ziva and Zio” — a happy tune about helping the Earth smile again.
Now it’s your turn: Are you more like Ziva or Zio?
Vote for your team, learn their song, and join the mission to make the world bright and new! 🌍✨

Available courses

Our planet faces enormous challenges today: climate change, environmental pollution, and biodiversity loss. All of these phenomena are interconnected and largely result from human activity.
In this section, you will learn how non-renewable energy sources, deforestation, soil erosion, and food waste impact the climate and our lives.

The aim of this module is not only to impart knowledge but also to demonstrate that each of us can act to protect the planet – through conscious, everyday choices.

Healthy eating is the foundation of well-being, energy, and environmental stewardship. What we choose to put on our plates each day impacts not only our bodies but also the planet. In this section, you'll learn how to plan balanced meals, avoid food waste, and choose products that support health and nature.

You'll learn that conscious eating is not only about self-care but also a way to reduce your carbon footprint and help combat global food waste.

The Impact of Bread Waste and Solutions Did you know that bread is one of the most frequently thrown away foods in Europe?

Every loaf of bread that ends up in the trash is not only a wasted meal, but also wasted energy, water, and the labor of the people who made it. Producing and transporting bread generates greenhouse gas emissions, so its waste increases the carbon footprint and exacerbates climate problems. In this section, you'll learn why bread waste is such a serious problem, its environmental and economic impacts, and simple, practical ways to reduce waste from proper storage, to bread recycling, to creative recipes for reusing it.

By learning how to avoid bread waste, you become part of the solution a true Zero Food Waste Volunteer. 🌍

This part focuses on developing practical skills to assess and reduce food waste through everyday actions, creative reuse, and environmental awareness. Learners will explore the impact of food waste on climate change and gain hands-on experience in sustainable living.
